Job Title: Social Services Volunteer Coordinator
Status: Temporary Full Time (9 weeks, 30hrs/wk)
Wage: $16.55/hr

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Summary

Working within a small team that supports the program, the Social Services Volunteer Coordinator will be focused on finding, onboarding, and retaining volunteers to enhance the human resources base of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Find new volunteers creatively through various channels.

  • Interview potential volunteers and match their talents with organizational needs.

  • Onboard and train new volunteers and set them up for success in their roles.

  • Set up a database and manage volunteer information following established guidelines.

  • Create and manage volunteer schedules as needed.

  • Track all volunteer hours and create reports.

  • Provide the necessary support for volunteers to foster continuous success.

  • Organize volunteer events for the Samaritan House Ottawa community to stay connected.

  • Following established procedures, respond to e-mails and telephone calls, and record/report messages and data.

  • Facilitate good communication with and between volunteers.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by their supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent people skills

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, interests, and age groups.

  • Experience in Office Administration or other related disciplines.

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.

  • Good command of the English language (verbal and written). Fluency in French and other languages is an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good organizational skills

  • Excellent attention to details

  • Ability to work independently but also thrive in a team environment.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Police records Check (Level C- Vulnerability Sector Check).

  • Youth with a lived experience of a refugee claimant, those who are indigenous, black and other racialized and marginalized youth are encouraged to apply.

Work Conditions

The successful candidate will work in person during the regular office hours. This is not a remote work position.
